The table is built to a solid standard and neatly finished to prevent splinters. Douglas wood ensures a long lifespan, so you can enjoy your picnic table for many years to come.

Durability and Material of the Picnic Table

Douglas wood comes from the Douglas fir and has strong, durable properties, ensuring long-lasting enjoyment of your picnic table. We only use Douglas wood sourced from sustainably and socially managed forests.

Douglas wood is easy to maintain and can remain outside during winter. Because the picnic table is made from planed and sanded Douglas wood, you do not need to sand it upon delivery. You may treat the table with Douglas oil, although this is not required.
Would you like to preserve the wood's beautiful orange hue for longer, or offer the wood a little extra weather protection? In that case you can treat the table with Douglas oil or stain. This can be done in a Natural colour, or you can choose a stylish colour to suit your outdoor space.
We offer convenient treatment kits, but you can also purchase a single tin of Douglas oil.
Has your picnic table turned green over winter? Simply clean it with some soft soap.

Do we work with sustainable wood?

Yes, nature is important to us too. That’s why we purchase our wood from companies certified with the PEFC label. PEFC is an international certification for wood products and paper, and stands for Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. It is supported by governments, companies and regional organisations. Wood with the PEFC label comes from sustainably and socially managed forests.

Movement of the wood

Due to the natural movement of the wood, small and sometimes longer fine hairline cracks may appear. This is a normal occurrence and does not affect the strength or stability of the picnic table. These cracks may become visible during warm and dry weather, and can partially disappear again once wetter, rainy conditions return. It is not possible to predict how this will develop in Douglas wood. If you are unsure whether the hairline cracks in your wood are normal, please feel free to send us a photo so we can assess it for you.
